The SUGAR Group - The Sugar Glider Advanced Research Group

The Necropsy Effort

The Necropsy Effort is an ongoing project of The SUGAR Group.  We strive to acquire data and surveys following a sugar glider's death in an effort to increase our knowledge base.

The Necropsy Effort strongly encourages owners to seek answers through a necropsy and histopathology following a sugar glider's death.  In an effort to help offset the costs, the SUGAR Group will reimburse owners a portion of their costs IF they complete our necropsy survey AND provide us a copy of the written necropsy and histopathology reports.

The SUGAR Group ALSO has a program that will allow you to ship your sugar glider directly to us for necropsy.  If you choose this option, your costs will be minimal ($0-50) and this will ensure that you have a full necropsy AND histopathology of a minimum of 5 tissues performed.   These examinations will be performed by independent professionals at the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Lab in Amarillo.  Professionals who may work on your case include:
*  Veterinary pathologists (perform all necropsy and harvesting of tissue samples)
*  Bacteriologist
*  Virologist
*  Parasitologist
*  Practicing Veterinarian
You will receive a copy of both written reports and all your information will be kept confidential.
